Richard Rodriguez on Affirmative Action

A 4 page research paper that looks specifically at Rodriguez's autobiography, Hunger of Memory, in order to analyze his opinions on affirmative action. Rodriguez has a unique ability to see minority issues from a slightly different perspective. This perspective is enlightening even if one does not agree with his conclusions. For instance, Rodriguez is opposed to affirmative action even though he admits that such social action programs benefited him throughout his academic career. Research findings indicate that while individuals, both African American and white, believe that the very program tends to extend racial discrimination rather than alleviate it, none wants to be accused of being either 'racist' or uncaring regarding the fate of others.
